Walking Aid Clinic in Horley & Reigate
When was the last time that you, or your loved one, had their walking aid checked?
Mobility aids are a vital bit of equipment for many people, and can help to increase stability, reduce the risk of falling, increase confidence and allow people to maintain independence. BUT a walking aid that is either, inappropriate, poorly fitted, or poorly maintained can actually lead to an increased risk of falls.
Walking Aid checks in Horley & Reigate
Over the past year we have run a number of free Walking Aid Clinics and found that, approximately 50% of walking aids have not been safe to be used. But, they have only needed simple small adjustments and fixes, such as new ferrules, to make them safer to use and reduce the risk of falling.
As such, we have liaised with Horley Library, to enable us to run 3, free walk-in Walking Aid Clinics. These are times we have made our team available, to look over walking aids, checking and where appropriate adjusting or fixing them. We will also be changing worn ferrules free of charge. Â
